Please note: This project was completed in January 2023.
This project constructed improvements at the intersection of Burke Lake Road (Route 645) and Shiplett Boulevard.
The improvements included:
- Traffic signal flashing yellow arrows on Burke Lake Road
- Four signalized crosswalks
- Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) curb ramp upgrades
At the intersection, Burke Lake Road averages 23,000 vehicles a day and Shiplett Boulevard averages 7,000.
Estimated Costs
Preliminary Engineering: $60,000
Right of Way Acquisition and Utility Relocation: $33,000
Construction: $501,000
Total: $594,000 
This project was financed with federal Highway Safety Improvement Program funding.
Benefits
This project aims to improve driver and pedestrian safety as well as operations at the intersection.
